DRIVING DIRECTIONS: John Howell Park is located in the Heart of Virginia-Highland at 801 Virginia Avenue, Atlanta, GA 30306. The park is across the street from Inman Middle School. Please consult a map if you are unfamiliar with the area and plan ahead. Generally speaking, if you are driving south on I-75, exit at 10th Street, and take 10th Street East (left) back across I-75 and toward Piedmont Park. 10th Street dead ends into Monroe Drive. If you are driving north on I-75 take the Freedom Parkway exit and head East toward Boulevard and the Carter Center. Please consult a map for surface street directions.
If you are heading east on 1-20 take the Moreland exit. If you are taking I-20 west, take I-75 north and exit at Freedom Parkway.
For those traveling south on I-85, 400 or from other neighborhoods please consult a map for the most convenient directions.
PARKING: Do NOT park your car along the race route, which includes Virginia avenue from Ponce Place to Barnett, Virginia Circle, Barnett, Greenwood, Ponce de Leon Place etc… Signs will indicate NO PARKING. Parked cars along the route will only make the race more difficult for runners. Inman Middle School, at the corner of Ponce de Leon Place and Virginia Avenue, has a surface lot on Virginia which is available to us for the race. There is also a small lot behind Inman Middle School on Clemont, that is accessible from Ponce De Leon Place. The YWCA of Greater Atlanta at North Highland and Adair also has a surface parking lot.
Street parking is available on non-race route streets. Please be mindful of residential driveways and no parking signs when you are choosing a location to park. Adair, Highland View, Clemont, Cooledge, Drewry and Ponce de Leon Terrace are side streets close to John Howell Park that have street parking.
